Are you planning to pursue an MBA while continuing your job or managing other responsibilities? An online programme can make postgraduate management study more flexible, but the right choice depends on more than a headline fee or a university’s popularity. Compare the degree-awarding institution, programme format, total payable amount, assessment pattern, support and specialisation choices together.
This guide compares ten online MBA options in India and puts NMIMS Online, D. Y. Patil Online Pune, Amity Online and Manipal University Jaipur first, as requested for this editorial shortlist. The order is a comparison sequence, not an official national ranking, paid endorsement or guarantee that one programme is best for every learner.
We checked the fee details against university pages available on 29 October 2026. Offers and fee schedules can change by intake, payment plan, location and specialisation. Amounts below are published tuition/programme figures where available; application, examination, registration or other charges may be separate.
Top 10 online MBA universities in India: fee comparison
Use the table as a starting point, not a checkout quote. “Tuition/programme fee” is separated from ancillary charges wherever the official page gives enough detail. The table keeps the published figure visible even when the university also advertises an intake-specific offer.
| Editorial order | University / online school | Published Indian fee reference | What to check |

| 2 | D. Y. Patil Online, Pune (DPU-COL) | ₹1,89,400; ₹2,19,400 with the listed edX option | Specialisation and optional certificate bundle |
| 3 | Amity University Online | ₹2,07,000 one-time effective price; ₹2,25,000 standard reference | Payment-plan discounts and exact semester total |

| 5 | Symbiosis SSODL | ₹3,70,000 published MBA programme fee | Installment plan and any eligibility-based concession |
| 6 | Chandigarh University Online | ₹2,20,000 published in CU Online’s fee explainer | Current programme page and intake scholarship |
| 7 | JAIN Online | ₹1,60,000–₹2,98,000 depending on MBA elective | Elective-specific fee, registration and examination charges |

| 10 | Amrita Online | ₹1,76,000 Indian-student tuition fee | ₹700 application/registration and ₹2,750 exam fee per semester |

10 online MBA universities to compare
1. NMIMS CDOE — an option to examine for structured management study
NMIMS Centre for Distance and Online Education offers an Online MBA in a four-semester format. Its current admission information lists several ways to pay: ₹1,96,000 for the one-time programme option, ₹1,05,000 per year or ₹55,000 per semester. Those instalment totals do not equal the one-time price, so compare the payment method you would actually use. The official page also lists a ₹1,200 admission-processing fee, ₹800 per subject per exam attempt and a separate project-attempt fee; confirm the current project charge with the university.
For the published eligibility, applicants need a recognised bachelor’s degree with at least 50% at graduation; the page lists 45% for specified reserved categories. Check the active admission calendar and programme entitlement for your session. This may suit learners who want a structured online management degree and are comfortable budgeting for its assessment charges.
See NMIMS CDOE’s Online MBA and current admission information.
2. D. Y. Patil Online Pune (DPU-COL) — compare the base degree and add-ons
DPU-COL’s published Indian Online MBA fee is ₹1,89,400, split across four semester payments of ₹50,000, ₹50,000, ₹45,000 and ₹44,400. The university separately lists ₹2,19,400 with an edX certification option. Treat these as different programme bundles rather than assuming the higher amount is a compulsory fee. DPU-COL also describes semester payment and no-cost EMI options; financing terms should be checked before signing up.
The programme runs for four semesters and includes a project. The published entry criteria require a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with 50% marks, or 45% for reserved-category applicants; the university says work experience and an admission test are not required. Compare the course outline and available specialisation with your current experience before choosing.
See DPU-COL’s Online MBA fee structure and eligibility.
3. Amity University Online — review the total behind each payment plan
Amity’s Indian Online MBA page currently shows a one-time effective payment of ₹2,07,000 against a ₹2,25,000 standard reference. It also displays ₹56,300 per semester, annual payment figures and a separate no-cost EMI amount. These choices can produce different totals; the per-semester figure multiplied by four is not the same as the one-time amount. Ask for the total payable under your selected plan, including any current scholarship or applicable charge.
The programme page describes a two-year, four-semester online MBA with live and recorded learning. It lists a graduation requirement and a minimum 50% mark threshold on its India page. Review the latest curriculum, exam format and admissions terms for the current cohort; marketing offers should not be treated as permanent prices.
See Amity Online’s MBA programme and published fees.
4. Manipal University Jaipur — resolve the fee difference before enrolling
Online Manipal’s MUJ MBA programme page lists ₹1,80,000 for the course, with ₹45,000 per semester across four semesters. Its wider course listings have also shown ₹1,84,000. Because the official pages do not always show the same amount, this guide does not quietly choose one and present it as universal: confirm the fee on the live application for your intake. A ₹500 non-refundable application fee is also listed on the programme page.
The degree is shown as a 24-month, four-semester programme. Its programme page describes 13 specialisation choices and offers options such as a super or dual specialisation; verify which combinations remain available for the cohort. Consider the course schedule and weekly study commitment as well as any advertised scholarships or course add-ons.

5. Symbiosis School for Online and Digital Learning (SSODL)
SSODL’s official MBA page currently lists an Indian programme fee of ₹3,70,000. Its fee table also describes semester instalments and a concession route for eligible learners, including a scholarship plan tied to work experience. Check the current fee table carefully: the plan, concession eligibility and amount can change, and an older brochure may show a different price.
The MBA is described as a 24-month online programme with semester assessment. The university lists areas including marketing, human resources, finance, operations, logistics and supply chain, business analytics, FinTech and sustainability. Look at the current intake’s annexure and course list to confirm which specialisations are actually running.

6. Chandigarh University Online — check the fee for your chosen MBA route
CU Online’s published fee explainer gives ₹2,20,000 as a total MBA programme reference, expressed as ₹55,000 per semester for four semesters, with a one-time prospectus fee shown separately. Current scholarship or early-bird plans may alter the amount a learner pays. Some programme-specific landing pages show offer prices, so ask the university to confirm the exact current tuition and any prospectus or registration charge for the MBA route you select.
CU’s online programme pages describe recorded learning resources and a learning portal. The MBA has multiple pathway and specialisation choices, so compare curriculum and assessment details rather than relying on a broad university-level description. Eligibility for postgraduate programmes generally requires a bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution; verify the specific MBA criteria with CU Online.
See CU Online’s published MBA fee explainer · See its MBA programme page.
7. JAIN Online — compare fees by elective, not just by degree title
JAIN Online’s current programme listings show different total fees for different MBA electives. The published examples range from ₹1,60,000 for several single-area options to ₹2,98,000 for an International Finance pathway. Some blended or dual-area electives are priced between those points. That means “JAIN MBA fee” is not a single number: select the exact elective first, then check the total for your payment schedule.
A JAIN Online programme page also lists a one-time registration charge and annual examination fees for Indian learners. Confirm those amounts for the selected MBA before comparing total cost with another university. JAIN’s admission information describes an online programme with weekend sessions and online-proctored examinations; review the calendar and participation expectations before applying.
See JAIN Online’s MBA electives and current fee cards · View one MBA elective’s fee and additional charges.
8. LPU Online — distinguish the list fee from an expired grant
LPU Online’s MBA pages show a list fee of ₹50,000 per semester. A page also displayed ₹40,400 per semester after a 20% student grant, but its stated validity ended on 12 September 2026. That date has passed, so the offer should not be treated as currently available. For a four-semester comparison, the list-price arithmetic is ₹2,00,000 before any applicable charges or later concession; ask LPU for the current written amount.
The MBA is listed as a two-year programme with several specialisation options and live plus recorded learning. Its fee page says the ₹40,400 grant figure included ₹2,000 examination charges per semester and excluded a ₹1,000 initial registration fee. Confirm whether those inclusions apply to the current standard fee and the intake you are considering.
See LPU Online’s MBA fee and eligibility page.
9. IGNOU MBAOL — read the mode and fee note carefully
IGNOU’s MBAOL programme page lists a minimum duration of 24 months and maximum of 48 months. The 2026 MBA prospectus gives a fee of ₹16,000 for semesters 1, 2 and 4 and ₹18,000 for semester 3, which includes the higher-credit project; the listed tuition adds up to ₹68,000. The prospectus says registration and development charges may also apply, while the programme page says examination fees are not included.
IGNOU has programme information for online and open/distance modes. This fee reference is for the MBAOL online programme; verify the mode displayed in the admission portal and the assessment arrangement for your session. Compare the official handbook, study support and examination requirements before treating it as equivalent to a fully online assessment experience at another provider.
See IGNOU’s MBAOL programme fee and duration · Read the 2026 MBA prospectus.
10. Amrita Online — add the examination charges to tuition
Amrita Online lists ₹1,76,000 as the Indian-student tuition fee for its two-year MBA. The same page lists a ₹700 application/registration charge and examination fees of ₹2,750 per semester. If all four semester examination fees apply, those amount to another ₹11,000 over the standard programme duration; check the current payment schedule and any exemption or revision directly with Amrita.
The university’s programme page lists specialisation options including finance, marketing, operations, human resources, business analytics, FinTech and ESG. The page states a bachelor’s degree of at least three years with 50% aggregate as the basic entry requirement. Confirm the chosen specialisation’s fee and curriculum: the page notes that tuition can vary for some specialisations and payment arrangements.

How to compare online MBA programmes fairly
Start by comparing what you will actually pay and study. A ₹55,000 semester figure may be one of four instalments, while another institution may quote a lower one-time payment or a price after a short-term grant. Build a like-for-like comparison with these points:
- Full payable cost: add tuition, application or registration charges, examination fees, project fees and any optional certificate bundle.
- Learning format: check live class timing, recorded content, attendance expectations, academic support and access to the learning platform.
- Assessment: ask how internal assessments, end-semester exams and projects work, and whether exams require a test centre or remote proctoring.
- Specialisation: read the actual subject list and confirm that the elective will run in your intake. A label alone does not tell you what you will learn.
- Flexibility: check the standard duration, maximum completion period, semester calendar and weekly study expectations.
- Support and outcomes: ask what career guidance is offered. Placement support is not a promise of employment, salary or promotion.
Quick decision rule
Write down your three priorities—such as total budget, a particular elective and weekend learning. Eliminate programmes that do not meet them, then compare the written fee schedule and course structure for the remaining options.
Eligibility and recognition: verify the exact programme
Most online MBA admissions require a bachelor’s degree, but the required marks, accepted qualifications and category relaxations differ. Some programmes may accept final-year learners under conditions; others require documents to be complete before enrolment. Use the current university admission page rather than applying a single rule to all ten options.
Also verify that the university is entitled to offer the specific programme in online mode for the academic session in which you plan to enrol. The UGC Distance Education Bureau’s official list can help you check the institution and programme. Review the university’s own admission notice and keep a copy of the fee schedule, programme mode, refund rules and offer terms before paying.
Check the UGC-DEB programme list.
A practical checklist before you apply

- Check which charges are separate, including exams, projects, registration and optional certifications.
- Read the admission requirements, cancellation/refund policy and exam schedule.
- Compare the specialisation syllabus and weekly class/study commitments.
- Save a copy of the university’s official fee quote and programme entitlement details.
If you want help comparing the options, you can browse the university comparison section or send an enquiry to Hashtag Education. We provide independent education guidance and are not an admission offer or a promise of a job outcome.
Frequently asked questions
Which online MBA university is best in India?
There is no single best choice for everyone. Compare the current fee, specialisation, learning format, eligibility, exams and support against your needs. The order in this guide is an editorial shortlist, not an official university ranking.
What is the fee for an online MBA in India?
Published programme fees in this comparison range from about ₹68,000 in IGNOU MBAOL tuition to ₹3.70 lakh for the listed SSODL MBA fee. Extra charges, payment plans and specialisation prices vary, so compare the full written cost for your intake.
Are online MBA fees the same for every payment method?
No. A one-time price, annual instalments, semester fees, scholarship prices and EMI plans can produce different totals. Ask the university for an itemised quote for your chosen method.
Is IGNOU MBAOL an online programme?
IGNOU lists an MBAOL online programme with its own fee and prospectus. Verify that the admission portal shows MBAOL online for your session, because IGNOU also has open and distance programme information and assessment rules can differ.
Does an online MBA guarantee a promotion or placement?
No. A degree or career service cannot guarantee a job, salary or promotion. Outcomes depend on the learner’s background, skills, experience, hiring market and employer criteria.
How do I check if an online MBA is recognised?
Check the UGC-DEB’s current institution and programme list for the relevant academic session, then confirm the programme mode and degree-awarding university on the institution’s official site.
